Liz Wessel, Owner
Wanting to bring her values to the travel industry, Liz launched Green Concierge Travel in September 2006. The company focuses on exploring destinations in North America and offering tours that explore the connections between travelers, communities and the natural assets of destinations. Together with clients, Green Concierge Travel supports local and environmentally friendly businesses and services.

Liz brings extensive personal travel experience to the company with a special interest in trains. Whether you are looking for a spa break or something to do on your business trip to San Francisco, together we can design a trip that will satisfy your needs.

In addition to over 20 years of experience as an environmental professional for private and non-profit organizations, Liz has experience with consumer organizations and the environment. She brings knowledge of both environmental standards in operations and consumer labeling/certification to the business. Green Concierge Travel will help you stay on top of the new ecotravel labeling and certification programs and help you make travel choices that fit your needs and values.

Our company and our values

Green Concierge Travel was started with the intent of being a green business. As part of this commitment, the following actions have been taken to date
(1/08):

• Provide quality ecotravel services - we conduct business in a manner consistent with the standards of The International Ecotourism Society (TIES) and any future North American or National Ecotourism Society. GREEN Concierge Travel is a member of TIES.


• Awarded the Seal of Approval from Co-op America’s Business Network satisfying the screening process which included: a review of solid waste, energy efficiency, water conservation etc. practices, community commitment, support of other local and green businesses, and a review of Green Concierge Travel’s process for developing a trip and making recommendations.


• Include travel philanthropy in travel proposals and practices. Green Concierge Travel will donate to local environmental/conservation groups and recommends to clients local organizations in travel destinations that provide conservation and environmental leadership on the ground.


• Offer clients travel options to reduce carbon footprint. Provide clients with carbon footprint for travel and offer list of carbon offset programs if desired.


• Highlight green options when providing quotes to clients for specific trip business or leisure using the Green Concierge Travel leaf - .
