Green Concierge Travel Presents…

New! A Walk with the Ancients: See Madison’s Effigy mounds through indigenous eyes

Join Green Concierge Travel’s tour to visit some of Madison’s remaining effigy mounds. The tour will be guided by Larry Johns (Mindido Magizi). Larry is a member of the Oneida Nation which is a part of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy.

Tour dates:

• July 20th Sunday from 1 to 5 PM
• September 21st Sunday from 1 to 5 PM.

Tour cost: $20 per person

We will meet to carpool and leave from the public parking lot just down from the capitol square off of East Wilson St. at S Hancock St. from here we will travel to mound groups on the north side of Lake Mendota, on the Isthmus and near Lake Wingra.

More on Larry Johns: Larry has been involved in Native American issues since the takeover of Wounded Knee, South Dakota, in 1973. Native burial site preservation has been his primary research subject since the late 1980's.

Why a tour? Eco or green travel supports the local economy and respects local culture and the environment. This tour is offered in this spirit and to provide a better understanding of Madison’s ancient/indigenous history and culture.

Now Available! Urban Food Sampler Walking Tour – Madison, WI

Green Concierge Travel offers to organize a walking/bus tour for your group in Madison (or elsewhere in Wisconsin). The tour makes the connection between farm – restaurant – markets and consumers and of course includes tasting! The best days for the tour are Wednesday and Saturday from April through October which allows a visit to the Dane Co. Farmer’s Market. The approximate cost of the tour is $25 per person and includes a contribution to one of several local nonprofit groups supporting the locally grown food movement. New!! Bus service to American Players Theatre Summer 2008
Reduce your carbon footprint, relax and leave the driving to someone else! This summer, American Players Theatre has made arrangements to offer bus service from Madison to the Spring Green theatre on 5 nights – June 27th, July 25th, August 8th, 29th, and September 26th. Bring your friends and leave your car behind.

You can register to take the bus by calling American Players Theatre 1608.588.2361. There will be two pick up points every evening. The bus will depart the UW Credit Union parking lot at 5:30 PM and will depart the Greenway Station in Middleton at 6:00 PM. The cost? $10 per person.
